Shea wrote and performed from 2002-2009 as a member of the Brooklyn, NY band The New Fantastics. The New Fantastics performed at NYC venues such as The Knitting Factory, Cake Shop, Pianos, Sin-e, Luna Lounge, and Lit Lounge.

Shea released his first album under the name Saturn Expedition, while living in Austin, TX from 2000-2002. Shea wrote and recorded the album in his apartment, and released the album on his label Cronus Records.
